Topographcial Relationships Between the Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve and Inferior Thyroid Artery in Korean

Abstract
|
|
|
The topographical relationships between the recurrent laryngeal nerve and the inferior thyroid ¢¥arteryy in 92 Korean cadavers, which were used for dissection in Hanyang University and Yonsei University from 1964 to 1970, were studied.
1.The most frequent type of the ralationships, in which the recurrent laryngeal nerve -passed behind, the inferior thyroid artery, was Type I and found in an incidence of 44.4% in the right sides and 51.4% in the left sides.
2. The Type II, which was secondary found and in which the recurreat laryngeal nerve passed between the terminal twigs of the inferior thyroid artery, was found in an incidence of 36.4% in the right sides and 31.4% in .the left sides.
3. The Type I , which was thirdly found and in which the recurrent larygeal nerve passed in front of the inferior thyroid artery, occured in an incidence of 14.8% in the right sides and 10.5% in the left sides.
